York childcare survey extended

York Press: .

City childcare consultation A SURVEY on childcare in York has been extended until the end of January.

City of York Council began the city-wide consultation last month with the aim of finding out whether York has enough high-quality childcare and whether it is available at the right times and places and if it is seen as affordable.

The results will help shape childcare provision in the future, with more than 500 people having already taken part.

The original deadline was December 31 but this has now been extended.

Coun Janet Looker, cabinet member for education, children and young people, said: “The council has a responsibility to ensure there is sufficient childcare in York, and to do that it’s vital that we know what people need or want.”

The survey can be completed at yor-ok.org.uk/childcare, by phoning the council’s family information service on 01904 554444, by collecting a questionnaire from the authority’s West Offices headquarters or by taking part in focus groups which are being run around the city.

More information is also available by emailing fis@york.gov.uk
